SULU SOKAK
Türklerin Anadolu’ya gelişinden itibaren mimarlık adına ortaya koyulan 900 yıllık eserlerin bir çırpıda görülebileceği eşsiz bir destinasyondur.
Sulu Sokak’ın çekirdeğini oluşturan fiziksel yapı Tokat Kale’si ile oluşturulmuştur. Roma Dönemi’nde Tokat Kale’si ile sınırlı kalan şehir Danişmendliler Dönemi’nde kent mekezine doğru bir yapılaşma başlatmıştır. Tarihi süreç içinde kent çekirdeği büyüyerek bugünkü halini almıştır.
Sulu Sokak’ın fiziki yapısının şekillenmesinde Selçuklu, Danişmendli ve Osmanlı Dönemi’nin etkisi olmuştur. Anıtsal nitelikli yapıların günümüze geldiği bu dönemde hanlar, hamamlar, camiler ve medrese binaları gibi yapıların bir araya gelişleri ve oluşturdukları külliyeler, meydanlar kentin sosyo-ekonomik hayatı hakkında bilgi vermektedir.
SULU STREET
A unique destination where architectural works of 900 years that have been created as of entry of the Turks into Anatolia, can be seen in a flash.
Physical structure that forms the core of Sulu Street is the Tokat Castle. A structuring was started towards the city center in the Danishmends period in the City, which was limited to Tokat Castle in the Roman Period. The city core has expanded in the historical process to acquire its current form.
Seljuk, Danishmend and Ottoman Periods have been effective in the shaping of the physical structure of Sulu Street. Inns, bathhouses, mosques, madrasah buildings etc. monumental structures and their combinations making up complexes and squares of the period that have survived to date give information on the socio-economic life of the city.

If so, please follow. Let’s embark on a journey and get sated with beauty, magnificence and art at Sulu Street, which houses 34 historical structures from Seljuk, Danishmend and Ottoman periods from the 12th Century to 20th Century.
We will start at Gülbahar Hatun Mosque, walk from one end to the other through Halit Street to Ulu Mosque, see the elegant bird-house at the corner of the mosque and find out why Tokat was called “Darün Nusret” in the Seljuk period and “Darün Nasr” (City of Aiders) in the Ottoman Period, and relieve yourself of your tiredness on the central massage platform of Ali Paşa bathhouse at the end of the trip.
